EAST STROUDSBURG – Outscoring the Bloomsburg University Huskies by double-digits in the first and fourth quarter propelled the East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team to a 72-48 victory inside Koehler Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

ESU (10-14, 7-10 PSAC) used a defensive team effort in limiting the Huskies to a 32.7 shooting percentage from the field in the contest. The Warriors would fend off a big second quarter and early run in the third quarter from the Huskies (17-9, 12-6 PSAC), who trimmed the deficit to five points heading into halftime.

Junior Jordan Hertz recorded a career-high 12 assists in the contest for the Warriors while adding seven rebounds and four points. The 12 helpers are the second-most in a single-game in program history. Junior Tiffany Lapotsky tallied a game-high 20 points for the Warriors to go along with six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Lapotsky extended her streak of scoring double-digit points to 17 games for the Warriors. Sophomore Abby Schoffstall added a career-high 16 points and six made field goals, while senior Noelle Powell hit a pair of 3-pointers to finish with 12 points.

The Huskies were paced by 19 points from Taylor Montana, who finished 7-of-12 from the field. Megan Brandt tallied 10 points along with a game-high eight rebounds for Bloomsburg, while Emma Saxton tallied six points and five boards. The Huskies despite going 11-of-15 at the free-throw line went just 1-of-11 from downtown in the contest.

Bloomsburg would take an early 4-3 lead in the opening quarter following a jumper from Saxton but would see the Warriors counter with a 7-0 run. Schoffstall hit a three with 5:23 left in the quarter to give ESU a 10-4 advantage. Following a 3-pointer from the Huskies' Marissa Molnar, the Warriors would go on an 8-0 run to stretch the lead to 20-8 with 2:12 remaining. Sophomore Marlene Bassett ended the scoring with under a minute to play as ESU took a 24-10 advantage into the second quarter.

Trailing by 13, the Huskies worked to trim the deficit to 29-26 with 1:14 left to play in the first half. A layup from Montana capped a 10-0 run for Bloomsburg before a layup in the paint from Schoffstall ended the run. The Warriors held a 31-26 advantage heading into the half as Bloomsburg outscored ESU 16-7.

Bloomsburg would knot the score at the 7:38 mark of the third quarter as Brandt finished a layup to make it 38-38. A quick 6-0 rally from the Warriors gave them a 42-35 lead following a fast-break layup from Lapotsky. ESU closed the third quarter with a pair of buckets from Powell and redshirt freshman Julia Kutz to take a 49-39 advantage into the fourth quarter.

The Warriors stretched their lead to 21 points with less than four minutes to play in the fourth quarter as a layup from Schoffstall made it 64-43.
