Box Score  |  Highlights

EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt senior Josh Williams totaled 21 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of blocks, leading four East Stroudsburg University players in double figures during a 97-84 victory over Bloomsburg at Koehler Fieldhouse on Thursday.

Senior Nick Giordano followed with 19 points, while freshman Ryan Smith had 15 points and 13 rebounds and junior Michal Weiss chipped in 14 points on 7 of 7 shooting for the Warriors. ESU (17-6, 14-3 PSAC) increased its winning streak to six games and completed a season sweep of the Huskies (6-18, 2-16 PSAC).

Williams and Smith each recorded their second-straight double-double, and the Warriors had a season-high 12 made 3-pointers in the win.

ESU led by as many as 11 points midway through the first half, but the visitors used a stretch of hot shooting from long distance to briefly take a 42-40 advantage with under four minutes remaining before the intermission. The Warriors ultimately led 51-50 at the break, with the Huskies shooting 9 of 14 from 3-point range to stay within striking distance.

Bloomsburg, though, was 0 for 9 from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes. A Smith layup capped a 13-4 run by ESU to begin the second half which restored a double-digit advantage.

The Huskies pulled within four points at 76-72 with 9:37 left only for junior Montrel Morgan to respond with a 3-pointer on the other end. ESU gradually extended its lead for the remainder of the contest.

Williams grabbed eight of his 10 rebounds in the second half to pick up his 12th double-double of the season. Smith, meanwhile, hit 7 of 11 field goal attempts while scoring in double figures for a 16th straight game. His 13 rebounds matched a season high.

Weiss scored 10+ points for a seventh time this season, and he also added seven rebounds in the victory. Included among his 14 points was a thunderous dunk which put ESU in front 68-58 with 14:51 remaining.

ESU had a 29-16 edge in assists, coming up one shy of its season high. Redshirt senior Jakwan Jones had a team-high nine assists, while Giordano and redshirt sophomore Troy Jones had five apiece.

Peyton Mortellite had a team-high 20 points for Bloomsburg, though 18 of those points came in the opening half.

Next up for ESU is a key road clash against PSAC East-leading West Chester at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Rams (21-5, 16-2) won their 15th straight with a 90-74 win at Lock Haven tonight, and they edged the Warriors 88-87 on a last-second free throw during the team's first meeting on Jan. 23.
