Full Results

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Junior Marina Zardet recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles and paired with sophomore Quinn McCluskey at No. 1 doubles to help the East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team open its spring season with a 5-2 win against Shepherd on Sunday.

The Warriors (2-3) won two of the three doubles matches to tally a point heading into singles, where they would be victorious four times. ESU would get singles wins from sophomore Amanda Jackson, senior Lauren Morrissey, and sophomore Briana Young.

Zardet and McCluskey paired together for the first time this season and notched a 6-0 win against Shepherd's top pairing of Zoie O'Neal and Nicolette Bruley. The Warriors secured the point with a 6-2 decision at No. 2 doubles as Morrissey and Jackson defeated the tandem of Olivia Scott and Anna Bock.

In singles action, Zardet improved her duals record to 3-1 for the Warriors with a win against the Rams' O'Neal. Jackson tallied a 6-4, 7-5 win for the Warriors at the No. 3 position, while Morrissey followed with a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Shepherd's Valentina Preciado-Bello. Young notched a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win for ESU at the No. 6 position against the Rams' Claire Dean.

Shepherd recorded its lone doubles victory at the No. 3 position as Preciado-Bello and Dean defeated Young and freshman Charity McLeod 6-2. Bock and Bruley tallied wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles for the Rams as Bruley would need a tiebreaker to defeat McLeod 6-2, 3-6, 3-0.
