EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomore
Krista Mitarotonda tallied four second-half goals and junior goalkeeper
Tatyana Petteway made 15 saves as the ninth-ranked East Stroudsburg women's lacrosse team defeated Seton Hill 13-9 on Saturday in the teams' PSAC opener.
ESU (4-2, 1-0) found itself locked in an early battle against the Griffins as the Warriors rallied from three first-half deficits before taking an 8-6 lead into halftime. Seton Hill (2-4, 0-1) held a 14-6 advantage in draw controls and outshot the Warriors 30-29 in the contest.
Mitarotonda finished with five goals for ESU to increase her season total to 27, while the Warriors had three other players tally a pair of goals. Junior

TJ Jefferis, and senior Emms Rufolo all added two goals and one assist for ESU, while sophomore
Shannon Dent and freshman
Madison Bagatta added a goal each.
Keagan Pontious paced Seton Hill with three goals on seven shots, while Mackenzie Kilduff and Jaclyn Frank added a pair of goals for the Griffins. Taylor Fox-Trudel notched a game-high three assists to go along with one goal.
Frank opened the scoring for the Griffins less than a minute into the contest as she took a feed from Fox-Trudel to beat Petteway and make it 1-0. ESU responded with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 advantage as Mitarotonda added her first of the contest at the 26:02 mark of the first half.
The Warriors rallied after falling-behind 5-4 with 10:49 left in the half as Jefferis netted the first of two consecutive goals to put ESU back on top 6-5. Jefferis scored unassisted at the 6:46 mark to give ESU momentum as the Warriors eventually increased their lead to 8-5 with just under two minutes left to play. Pontious would end the four-goal run for the Warriors with 52 seconds remaining as her goal trimmed the deficit to 8-6.
ESU opened the second half with five consecutive goals, including three-straight from Mitarotonda that increased the Warriors' advantage to 13-6 with 14:35 left in the contest. Seton Hill looked to rally with time winding down in the half as Katelyn Cressman scored the first of three Griffins goals in the final 11:30. Kilduff netted both of Seton Hill's goals to close the contest as her tally with 51 ticks left on the clock trimmed the deficit to 13-9.
Petteway (4-2) recorded eight saves in the second half to help preserve ESU's victory against the Griffins. She notched 15 saves after tallying a season-high 16 last week in a win over nationally-ranked LIU Post.
The Warriors hit the road for a pair of PSAC contests against Millersville and Edinboro before returning home to host West Chester and Slippery Rock at Whitenight Field.
