WEST CHESTER, Pa. – East Stroudsburg University's women won seven events and had 14 new PSAC-qualifying marks, while the men took first in eight events and recorded 10 new conference qualifiers at West Chester's Quad Meet on Saturday.
The women edged Kutztown by two and a half points to finish atop the team standings, with a new meet record from junior
Sarah Klag in the 400m among the day's highlights. Sophomore

Akeim Thomas, freshman Brandon Shaffer and freshman
Jalen Bailey set new meet records for the men, who were eight points back of first-place Kutztown.
Walton's mark of 55-4 3/4 reached the Division II provisional standard, and it ranks 23rd nationally so far this season. The new PR is also No. 2 all-time in ESU history. Junior
Noah Lockwood added a new season-best toss of 45-9 3/4 while placing third in the event.
Samuels, the 2017 indoor champion in the 800m, established his meet record on Saturday with a new PSAC-qualifying time of 1:54.07. Klag also booked her spot in the conference meet with her record mark of 58.48, while Monahan, Thomas, Shaffer and Bailey completed their meet record relay in 41.83.
The Warrior women had three new conference qualifiers in the hammer, with juniors
Me'Saj Closs (147-9),
Barbara Grossov (140-9) and
Sam Giangrasso (140-3) all above the PSAC standard of 134-06.
ESU claimed the top three spots in the women's 400m hurdles, as junior
Allyson Stitzer (1:06.17) was followed by senior
Aspen Gaita (1:07.32) and freshman
Jeanette Jones (1:07.96). Stitzer's time was a new season-best, while Gaita and Jones were new PSAC qualifiers in the event.
The women added five additional first-place finishes on the afternoon. Three of those were in field events, as Grossov (38-1 1/2) and Closs (37-10 3/4) were 1-2 in the shot put, Closs (119-6) topped the field in the discus and senior
Carly Gregas (5-2 1/4) was first with a new PSAC-qualifying clearance in the high jump.
Gaita had the remaining top individual finish on the track, as she completed the 100m hurdles in a PSAC time of 14.50. Jones followed with a new conference qualifier of 15.63 in seventh place.

Taylor Allen took first place in the 4x100m relay with a time of 48.33. Flim (2nd, 12.16), Webster (3rd, 12.17) and Dey (4th, 12.36) added season-bests in the 100m, with Dey's time a new conference qualifier. Flim also qualified in the 200m with a third-place time of 25.65.
Other new PSAC marks for the women included graduate student
Samantha Young (4th, 2:23.29) in the 800m, junior
Tatiana Williams (3rd, 36-9) in the triple jump and senior
Hannah Marth (4th, 121-11) in the javelin. Williams' distance ranks seventh in program history. Sophomore
Gabrielle D'Amore stood out in the javelin as well, taking second with a season-best throw of 127-3.

Dan Amari provided one of the top highlights for the Warrior men in the field, as he took second in the pole vault with a top PSAC-qualifying clearance of 15-5 1/2 which ranks No. 6 in program history. Junior
Darnell Randall added two new conference qualifiers in the long jump (1st, 22-2 1/4) and high jump (3rd, 6-3 1/2).
ESU had three of the top five finishers in the men's hammer following strong performances from graduate student
Jonathan Hummel (2nd, 159-9), Walton (3rd, 152-9) and freshman
Daryn Blackwell (5th, 149-5). Hummel posted a new season-best, while Walton and Blackwell were new PSAC qualifiers.
The men had four additional first-place finishers on the track. Bailey (14.89) edged out teammates Thomas (3rd, 15.17) and senior
Mike Matrisciano (4th, 15.17) in the 100m hurdles, Thomas (21.97) topped the field with a new PSAC mark in the 200m and junior
Andrew Schumacher (54.54) led the way in the 400m hurdles.
Schumacher also anchored a first-place 4x400m relay team (3:20.73) which included freshmen
Sean Roberts, Bari and Bailey. Other new conference qualifiers included Bari (2nd, 49.70) in the 400m and Monahan (2nd, 10.93) in the 100m.
ESU track & field is back in action next Saturday, traveling to central Pennsylvania to take part in the Millersville Metrics.
