STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University sophomore
Micaela Crines carded a collegiate best round of 78 on Day 1, and she ultimately placed tied for eighth overall in the individual standings at this year's ESU Spring Invitational, which concluded Sunday afternoon at Glen Brook Golf Club.
Crines became the first Warrior this season to shoot in the 70's; her previous best at ESU was an 80 during the opening day of Gannon's Michael Corbett Fall Classic on Sept. 10, 2017.
That put her in a tie for first place out of 27 golfers heading into the final round. She completed 18 holes on Sunday with a final score of 88, giving her a two-day total of 166.
Junior
Amy Bergquist was next for the Warriors with a score of 174 (85-89), while freshman
Shannon Campbell had a tournament score of 204 (103-101).
Kutztown's Rachel Taropoll shot an even-par 72 on Sunday, vaulting her to the top of the individual standings with an overall total of 151 (79-72). West Chester (632, 326-306) finished 23 strokes ahead of Jefferson (655, 332-323) for first place in the team rankings.
ESU has one tournament left to wrap up its 2018-19 schedule, with the Warriors set to face host Jefferson and LIU Post at the ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa., next Friday afternoon.
