WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team traveled to West Chester on Tuesday for its PSAC East opener against the Golden Rams. West Chester would tally the 7-0 victory in the match against the Warriors.
 
The Warriors (4-5, 0-1) returned to the court for the first time in almost a month after their match at Jefferson last Friday was postponed due to inclement weather. West Chester (5-4, 2-0) won its third straight match after opening conference play with a 7-0 win against Kutztown last Saturday.
 
West Chester opened doubles play with a 6-1 victory over ESU at the No. 3 position as Shannon Nixon and Julia Mowrey defeated senior Lauren Morrissey and freshman Charity McLeod. The Golden Rams tallied a 6-0 win at the No. 2 position followed by a 6-2 decision at No. 1 doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles competition.
 
Sophomore Amanda Jackson looked to rally in the second set of her No. 4 singles matchup against West Chester's Leandra Roelker. Jackson would ultimately drop the match against Roelker 6-0, 6-2. The Golden Rams tallied straight-set victories at the No. 2, 3, 5, and 6 positions, while junior Marina Zardet took her match against Rylee Power to a third set at the No. 1 singles spot.
 
Zardet started off strong against Power, taking the opening set by a score of 6-4. Power gained momentum in the second set and would record a 6-1 victory to send the match to a decisive third set. She would tally a 1-0 win in the set to secure her team's seventh point of the match.
 
The Warriors open the home-portion of their spring schedule at Wolbers Courts on April 5 against the University of the Sciences at 2 p.m. and against Shippensburg on April 6 at 12 p.m.
