STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University baseball team honored eight members of its 2019 senior class on Saturday prior to the start of a PSAC East doubleheader against Millersville at Hughes Field. The Warriors would drop both ends of the twin bill against the Marauders, 2-1 and 8-2.

ESU (28-14, 14-8 PSAC East) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end against the No. 9 nationally-ranked Marauders. The Warriors stranded eight runners on base in game one and 10 in the night-cap. Millersville (33-9, 19-3) scored both of its runs in game one in the fourth inning and would rally for five runs in the seventh inning of game two.

Redshirt senior Mike Sulcoski finished the day 3-for-6 at the plate with one double and one run scored for the Warriors. Redshirt senior Christian Rishel tallied a pair of hits on the afternoon, while sophomore Brainy Rojas notched three hits. Sophomore Brock Kauffman hit his fourth home run of the season, tying him for the team lead, and delivered a run-scoring single in game one.

Junior Connor Johnson made his fifth start of the season for the Warriors in game one and would keep the Millersville offense off the scoreboard through the opening three innings of action. The Warriors faced the Marauders' Eli Nabholz in the opener and tallied just one hit heading into the fourth inning.

The Marauders took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning as Ben Snyder doubled to score Luke Trainer. Jimmy Losh followed with a double of his own to increase the Millersville lead to 2-0 in the frame. Junior Anthony Torreullas notched his lone hit of the day to start the bottom of the fourth inning. Following his double, he would score on a single up the middle from Kauffman to make it 2-1.

ESU loaded the bases against Nabholz and the Marauders in the bottom of the fifth inning but would be unable to score after Millersville made a call to the bullpen. Millersville found itself with a bases-loaded situation in the sixth inning but would be unable to score against freshman reliever Justin Guidos.

The Warriors loaded the bases again in the bottom of the sixth inning but Tyler Yankosky closed the door on any comeback attempts from ESU en route to recording his fourth save of the season. Nabholz improved to 8-1 on the season for Millersville after allowing just one run off four hits through 4.2 innings of work. Johnson (3-2) suffered the loss despite allowing two runs through five innings of work.

In game two, both teams would trade runs in the third inning as Millersville took a 1-0 advantage off a double-play ball with a runner on third base. ESU responded in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run from Kauffman to knot the score.

Millersville took a 2-1 lead against ESU junior starter Cam Voss in the fourth inning as Ben Harris delivered a sacrifice fly to center field. The Marauders added another run in the fifth off a solo home run from Cole Friese.

Junior CJ Lopez trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the sixth inning with a single that would score Sulcoski after the ball was mishandled by the right fielder. ESU would get the potential tying run to third before Torreullas grounded out to end the inning. Millersville scored five unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away from the Warriors and secure an 8-2 victory.

Voss (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing three runs off four hits with five strikeouts through five innings of work. Drew Miller improved to 5-1 on the season for the Marauders after yielding one run off four hits through 4.1 innings of work.

The Warriors travel to Millersville on Sunday to wrap-up their four-game series against the Marauders. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Cooper Park.
