Seven Warriors Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll; ESU Named to Academic Honor Squad

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University women's lacrosse team has been named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad list for a second-straight year in 2019, while seven members of the team have been recognized on the Academic Honor Roll for the 2018-19 academic year.
 
The IWLCA Academic Squad acknowledges 312 schools across all NCAA divisions, including 61 programs in Division II, who posted a team grade-point average of 3.0 during the academic year.
 
Sarah Campbell, Hana Cicerelle, Juliane Fitzsimmons, Brooke Fritz, TJ Jefferis, Madison Mulligan, and Kendahl Nester are among the 280 DII student-athletes from 63 different institutions on the Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll. It is the second time that Fitzsimmons (2017) and Jefferis (2018) have been named to the list.
 
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or higher. The seven selections for ESU match a program-high after Bethany Cunningham, Jessica Maxwell, Kerry Mulcahy, Annastasia Porpora, Samantha Weinert, Whitney Wilkinson, and Jamie Zimmer received the honor following the 2016 season.
 
Campbell (Massapequa/Massapequa Park, NY), a Health and Physical Education major, made a career-high seven appearances for the Warriors in 2019 and has played in 12 games during her three seasons at ESU.
 
Cicerelle (Warren Hills/Broadway, NJ), a Nursing major, garnered both All-PSAC and IWLCA All-Atlantic Region first-team accolades after pacing the Warriors offensively with 81 points on the season.
 
Fitzsimmons (East Meadow/East Meadow, NY), an Exercise Science/Psychology major, tallied a career-high nine goals and 12 points for the Warriors in 2019 and appeared in her 50th game overall for ESU on May 12 against West Chester.
 
Fritz (Cocalico/Denver, Pa.), a Nursing major, scored 21 points through 21 games for the Warriors in 2019 and started 14 consecutive games to open the season for ESU. She has tallied 135 points in 76 career games for the Warriors.
 
Jefferis (Phoenixville/Phoenixville, Pa.), a Nursing major, garnered IWLCA All-Atlantic Region first-team honors to go along with an All-PSAC second-team selection after contributing a career-high 49 goals and 19 assists. She capped her final season at ESU with an invitation to the IWLCA DII Senior All-Star Game.
 
Mulligan (Northern/Dunkirk, Md.), an Exercise Science major, recorded at-least 19 ground balls for a third straight season for the Warriors. She enters her final season at ESU with 59 career ground balls and 60 games played.  
 
Nester (Souderton/Telford, Pa.), a Special Education major, has served as a student assistant coach for the Warriors since her sophomore year. She played one game for ESU as a freshman before suffering a season-ending injury.
 
The Warriors finished 2019 with a final record of 15-6 and appearances in both the PSAC and DII Atlantic Region championship games. ESU went 10-2 against PSAC opponents during the regular season, improving their mark against conference foes to 32-4 over the past three seasons.
