EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team opened its 2019-20 season on Wednesday against Molloy at Wolbers Courts as the Lions defeated the Warriors, 7-0.
Junior
Briana Young and senior
Ivanna Pittman battled at No. 3 doubles for ESU before dropping a 6-4 decision against Molloy's Samantha Bloecker and Briana Gonzalez. The Lions swept the doubles portion of the competition, winning 6-1 at the No. 1 position and 6-3 at the No. 2 position.
In singles competition, senior
Aubrianna Stetina looked to give ESU its first point of the match. Stetina would drop a 6-2, 6-4 decision against Molloy's Kailey Chin. Senior
Marina Zardet battled Molloy's Sarah Moehrlein at the No. 1 singles position with Moehrlein taking the point with a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
The Warriors are back in action this weekend as they travel to Bloomsburg, Pa. for the Bloomsburg Invitational on Sept. 21-22. ESU then heads to Drew (Sept. 27) and Scranton (Sept. 28) before taking part in the PSAC Individual Championships at Bloomsburg.
