No. 16 ESU Gets Back Into Win Column with 3-0 Shutout against Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Sophomore Corryn Gamber scored in the 24th minute for the No. 16 East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team as the Warriors defeated Mansfield University on Saturday, 3-0.

ESU (4-1, 3-1 PSAC East) had several good looks in the first half against the Mounties as Mansfield goalkeeper Stephanie Moir made five saves in the half to keep the game close.

Gamber took a pass from the corner of the box as senior Amy Strauser found her five yards out for an opportunity to beat Moir and make it 1-0 ESU.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mauri Jackson recorded a pair of saves for ESU in the opening half to keep her team ahead on the scoreboard heading into the half.

The Warriors would add to their lead in the 65th minute as junior Haley Skove beat Moir to the left off a cross from freshman Melissa Herrera. Herrera added her team-leading fifth goal of the season for ESU in the 72nd minute as Gamber passed in a ball from the top of the box that allowed Herrera to beat the keeper and make it 3-0.

The three goals would be plenty of offense for the Warriors as Jackson denied three opportunities in net for ESU in the second half. Jackson (4-1) finished the contest with five saves in net for the Warriors.

Herrera and senior Hannah Saggese each finished with three shots on goal for ESU in the contest, while Gamber tallied a pair of shots on frame. Four other Warriors recorded a single shot on goal against the Mounties.

ESU hosts Bloomsburg on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.in a rematch from earlier this month when the Warriors (as an unranked team) defeated the Huskies (ranked No. 5 at the time) 1-0 in double-overtime.
