Tatyana Petteway has been named the NCAA Division II women's lacrosse Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year by US Lacrosse Magazine in advance of the 2021 season, it was released this week.
Petteway (Nanuet, N.Y./Albertus Magnus), a graduate student, enters her fifth season at ESU following an abbreviated 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A two-time All-America selection, Petteway has received numerous accolades in her first three complete seasons with the Warriors. She earned IWLCA All-America honors with third team recognition as a freshman in 2017, and second team status as a junior in 2019. She is a three-time IWLCA All-Region selection, named to the first team as a freshman and junior, and the second team as a sophomore.
Petteway is also a three-time All-PSAC and two-time first team all-conference selection, and was the PSAC Freshman of the Year in 2017, helping the Warriors to their first-ever PSAC championship and first of three straight appearances in the NCAA DII Tournament.
As a sophomore in 2018, she backstopped ESU to its first NCAA DII Atlantic Region title and a spot in the national semifinals. She earned NCAA All-Tournament accolades with 15 saves in a 20-14 loss to Florida Southern, following 16 saves in a 16-14 win over West Chester in the regional final the previous weekend.
In 2019, Petteway led DII in save percentage (.548) as ESU was the PSAC and Atlantic Region runner-up. The Warriors are 51-14 since the start of the 2017 season, with records of 17-3, 15-4, 15-6 and 4-1 in the shortened 2020 season.
