INDIANA, Pa. – East Stroudsburg University redshirt freshman forward
Cassie Ksiazek was announced Saturday as the PSAC Champion Scholar for women's basketball.
The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest grade-point average at the PSAC championship site. Ksiazek holds a 3.980 GPA through 54 credits while majoring in early childhood education.
The South Abington Township, Pa., native has appeared in each of ESU's 29 contests this season after missing the 2018-19 season due to injury. She has helped to provide depth off the bench this season for the Warriors, logging over 300 minutes of playing time.
Ksiazek has totaled 47 points, 33 rebounds, 12 assists, and 11 blocks this season for the Warriors. She played a career-high 33 minutes and tallied nine points in a 57-41 victory for ESU against West Chester on January 22. She finished 4-of-7 from the field to go along with four boards and one steal.
Ksiazek becomes ESU's 18th Champion Scholar since the program was instituted in 2011-12, and the first honoree for the women's basketball program. She is ESU's second recipient during the 2019-20 academic year, joining sophomore Lynsy Gruwell, who garnered the award for women's soccer in the fall. The Warriors have had six PSAC Champion Scholar recipients over the last two years.
