MILLERSVILLE – After seeing their winning-streak come to an end last night, the Warriors responded with a 3-0 sweep of Millersville on Saturday afternoon at Pucillo Gymnasium. The set scores were 27-25, 25-19, 25-23.
The Warriors get back to .500 on the season at 9-9 and improve to 5-2 in the conference while Millersville drops to 7-15 overall and 2-5 in the PSAC.
Notables
- Senior Ali Finch recorded six kills, 28 assists and 12 digs as well as seven total blocks
- Claire Choloux had a team-high nine kills
- Kenzie Guimont also registered nine kills on a .400 attack percentage
- Emily Meredith posted a team-high 23 digs
- The Warriors had a .163-.062 advantage in attack percentage
- ESU had 10 more kills and two fewer attack errors than Millersville
How it Happened
- The Marauders jumped out to a 11-7 advantage in the first set and went ahead 16-13 before three straight points by ESU evened the score. The teams traded leads the rest of the way and when Millersville had a chance to close out the set, Choloux delivered a kill for ESU to tie it up at 24-24. ESU would go to claim the set, 27-25, following a kill by Taylor Haan and a ball handling error by the Marauders.
- With the scored tied at 4-4 early in the second set, ESU rattled off five straight points to grab a 9-4 lead. Millersville pulled within three at 11-8 but the Warriors scored five of the next six points to go ahead, 16-9. The Marauders pulled with three points again on two occasions, but a 6-3 run by the Warriors closed out the set, 25-19, for a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Warriors seemed to grab momentum to begin the final set as they were out in front 8-3, but a quick 5-0 sprint by the Marauders tied the score at 8-8. Millersville and ESU exchanged leads throughout the rest of the set as neither team was able get ahead by more than two points. With the score deadlocked at 23-23, the Warriors used an attack error by Millersville and a kill by Finch to close out the Marauders, 25-23, for a 3-0 sweep.
