MANSFIELD – Trailing 1-0 entering the fourth quarter, the sixth-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team scored a pair goals to defeat Mansfield 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.
Junior Lia Parker found the back of the net for the game-winner off a pass from junior Nicole Krozser with just 28 seconds remaining in regulation. Freshman Giulia Van der Werff tied the game for the Warriors earlier in the fourth quarter with her first career goal at ESU.
The Warriors improve to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC while the Mounties fall to 4-5 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.
The Mounties grabbed a 1-0 lead with under three minutes left in the first quarter and maintained their advantage through the third quarter before the Warriors scored twice in the final period.

How it Happened
12:36 | On their only penalty corner of the first quarter, the Mounties were able to convert to grab a 1-0 lead. After an initial shot by Hannah Meyer was saved, the rebound trickled to Saramae Radel, who lifted a shot over the head of Supey to get Mansfield on the scoreboard.
47:17 | Van der Werff picked a great time to score the first goal of her career with the Warriors as she tied the game at 1-1 at the start of the fourth quarter. The scoring opportunity started when Morgan Mesenbrink sent in a penalty corner for Lea Hughes, who's original shot was blocked out in front. As the teams battled for possession, Van der Werff came out with the ball and took quick shot past Mansfield's August Lewis to even the score.
59:32 | With time running out in regulation, the Warriors were awarded a corner with 32 seconds remaining. After the initial entry by Parker, ESU made a serious of passes before Krozser got the ball on the stick of Parker right in front of the goal, where she was able to jam in a shot along the left side to give the Warriors the lead.
