Volleyball Sweeps Pace in Final Non-Conference Match

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University volleyball team swept Pace, 3-0, in their final non-conference match of the regular season on Tuesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse. The set scores were 25-9, 25-13, 25-20.

The Warriors earn their third straight victory to improve to 11-9 overall while the Setters drop to 1-15 on the season.

Notables

- Claire Choloux, Jasmine Mooney and Kaylee LoPresto each recorded a team-high seven kills

- Ali Finch finished with three kills, 30 assists, seven digs, four solo blocks and a service ace

- Emily Meredith anchored the Warriors defensively with a team-high 16 digs

- 10 different players recorded at least one kill for ESU

- The Warriors limited the Setters to a -.062 attack percentage, which included percentages of -.175 in the first set and -.024 in the second frame

- ESU recorded 17 more kills and 15 less attack errors than Pace

How it Happened

- With the opening set at 5-4 in favor of ESU, the Warriors went on a 7-1 run that forced Pace into a timeout. Out of the break, the Warriors kept their foot on the gas as they outscored Pace, 6-3, which caused the Setters to call a timeout at 18-8. ESU closed out Pace by scoring seven of the final eight points to take the first set, 25-9.

- ESU carried momentum over into the second set as they went ahead, 10-4, before a timeout by the Setters. Pace would cut ESU's lead to 11-8 out of the stoppage, but the Warriors went on a 7-3 spurt to grab a seven-point lead. Out of a timeout by Pace, the Warriors grabbed a 2-0 led in the match by taking seven of the next nine points to close out the set, 25-13.

- Pace would not go away quietly in the final set as they lead 12-7 before a timeout by the Warriors. The Setters kept their momentum rolling as they ultimately went ahead, 15-9, before ESU trimmed the advantage to 16-11. With the Warriors trailing by five points, they would go a 9-2 run that propelled to a 20-18 lead which caused Pace to call a timeout. The Setters however could not slow down the Warriors as they would go on to win the set 25-20, for a 3-0 sweep in the match.
