EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University volleyball team overcame a slow start in the first set to earn a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-15) sweep over Lock Haven on Saturday evening at Koehler Fieldhouse to wrap up 2021 Homecoming.
The Warriors won their third straight match to move to 7-8 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC, which ranks second in the East standings after this weekend. Lock Haven dropped to 2-13 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.
After a grueling five-set match last night, the Warriors started out sluggish as they found themselves trailing 16-13 before a timeout fueled a 12-6 run the rest of the way to earn the first set victory. The Warriors flexed their muscles in the final two sets defeating the Bald Eagles 25-11 & 25-15 for the 3-0 sweep.

- Sophomore Claire Choloux recorded a team-high 13 kills and 15 digs to go along with four assists
- Senior Ali Finch posted seven kills, 29 assists, seven digs and an ace
- Junior Sydney Stone had a 14 digs, five kills and an ace
- The Warriors recorded a .333 hitting percentage in the second set
How it Happened
- After the score was tied at 4-4, Lock Haven was able to build a 16-13 advantage before a Warriors' timeout. ESU flipped the switch out of the break as they jumped out in front 20-19, before the Bald Eagles were forced to take a timeout. The Warriors maintained their momentum the rest of the way as they went on to win the set, 25-23, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- The Warriors kept their foot on the gas to open the second set as they used a 5-0 sprint to grab the lead before a timeout by Lock Haven. The stoppage failed to slow down the Warriors as they closed out on 20-11 run to win the set and take a 2-0 advantage in the match. ESU recorded their best hitting percentage of the match at .333 and took advantage of 10 attack errors by the Bald Eagles.
- Lock Haven fought back to open up the third set as the score was tied at 6-6, before the Warriors scored eight of the next 11 points to take a 14-9 lead which forced the Bald Eagles into a timeout. Out of the break, ESU ended the set on a 11-6 run to close out the Bald Eagles, 25-15.
