EAST STROUDSBURG – Hannah Barbush, a senior on the East Stroudsburg University field hockey team is the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2021 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championships.
Barbush, majoring in special education/early childhood education, currently carries a flawless 4.0 GPA through 105 credits. The Manheim, Pa. native was presented with the award during the on Friday prior to the Warriors' semifinal matchup at Millersville. Barbush was named to the All-PSAC First Team as a defender after leading the Warriors with a team-high eight assists and four defensive saves.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
The Warriors have now received four DII field hockey Elite 90 awards over the last six seasons as Lexi Hartman was honored in 2019 and Sydney McCarthy received the accolade in both 2015 and 2017.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
