PHILADELPHIA – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team dropped an 79-52 decision to Jefferson in a non-conference game on Monday night at the Gallagher Center.
The Warriors fall to 0-2 on the season while the Rams improve to 4-1 overall.
ESU grabbed an 20-19 lead early in the second quarter but after an 18-0 run by Jefferson, the Rams ultimately took a 15-point advantage into halftime. Jefferson would go on to outscore ESU, 40-28, in the second half to secure the victory.
Notables
- Freshman Katie Geisler led the Warriors with a career-high 15 points, finishing 5-of-10 from the field, to go along with six rebounds and two blocks
- Graduate student Ryan Weise flirted with a triple double as she notched 11 points, six rebounds, six assists as well as one steal and block a piece
- ESU shot 18-of-48 (37.5) from the floor and 5-of-13 (38.5) from 3-point land but committed a season-high 26 turnovers
- Jefferson was paced by Sabria Lytes with 18 points and Cassie Murphy with 15 points. The Rams were an efficient 33-of-55 (50.1) from the field and 3-of-9 (33.3) from behind the arc as a team.

How It Happened
- After finding themselves trailing 8-3 to open the first quarter, the Warriors battled back to take a 9-8 lead following a pair of buckets by Leah Pishock and jumper from Izzy Vogel. Over the final 2:48, Jefferson outscored ESU, 8-2, to grab a 16-11 after the first 10 minutes of the game.
- The Rams pushed their advantage to 19-13 to begin the second but three straight baskets by ESU put them back out in front 20-19 with 7:10 remaining in the half. Jefferson responded using an 11-0 run with the help of four turnovers by the Warriors to regain a 31-20 edge. Out of an ESU timeout, Jefferson kept their foot on the gas, going ahead 37-20 before a free throw by Pishock snapped the scoreless drought. The Warriors were trailing 39-24 headed into the break.
- As the teams traded buckets to start the second half, the Warriors pulled within 11 points at 51-40. But over the final 3:15 of the third quarter, Jefferson scored six more points than ESU to build a 61-44 lead.
- The Rams started the fourth on a 6-0 run and outscored the Warriors, 18-8 in the final quarter to earn the 79-52 win.
