CASTANEA, Pa. – Led by a second-place finish from senior Casey Ellis, the East Stroudsburg University men's cross country team finished third at the Lock Haven Winter Invite on Saturday afternoon.
Ellis, a 2019 PSAC First Team honoree, finished the 5k road course on Lower Creek Road in a time of 14:53.1, just 1.3 seconds behind first-place finisher Chayce Macknair (Shippensburg).
Other top-10 finishers for the Warriors included Teddy Mostellar (7th 15:34.6) and Luke Valdevit (9th, 15:51.4). Josh D'Agostino (20th, 16:33.8) and Koodsha Manjaro (35th, 18:12.4) also competed on the afternoon for ESU
Shippensburg won the event with a score of 21, while host Lock Haven earned runner-up honors with a score of 52. Competing in its first race in 462 days, the Warriors posted an average time of 16:14 and a score 63 for a third-place finish. Rounding out the participating teams was Gannon, with a score of 99.
Shippensburg's Macknair won the event with a time of 14:51.8. Other than Ellis, the Raiders had posted four of the top five times in
the race.
The Lock Haven Winter Invite, along with ESU Swimming participating at the PSAC Invitational, marked the first intercollegiate athletic competitions for ESU since March 10, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
