EAST STROUDSBURG – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced on Tuesday afternoon that East Stroudsburg University freshman midfielder Emily Mitarotonda has been named the IWLCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week.

Mitarotonda led the Warriors (12-3) in goals (7), points (11), draw controls (13) and caused turnovers (6), while tying for the team lead in assists (4) in a pair of NCAA Atlantic Region wins at Eiler-Martin Stadium this past weekend.

Against Seton Hill, Mitarotonda posted a game-high six points on four goals and a pair of assists. She recorded nine draw controls herself, the same amount that the Griffins earned on the afternoon.

In the Atlantic Region Championship, Mitarotonda tallied five points on a hat trick and two assists, scooping a ground ball and causing an impressive four turnovers to help knock off undefeated West Chester.

This season, Mitarotonda ranks second on the team in goals (42) and points (53), while earning a team-best 69 draw controls in 15 games.

Mitarotonda, the PSAC East Freshman of the Year, earned PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors earlier this season after scoring six goals against in a 17-9 win over Bloomsburg.

The national player of the week honor is the first for ESU since Emma Rufolo (4/12/17) and Tatyana Petteway (4/19/17) were named IWLCA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively during the 2017 season.

Mitarotonda and the rest of the Warriors battle Queens (N.C.) in the Division II Semifinal on Fri., May 21 at 4:00 p.m. in Salem, Va. with a national championship berth on the line.
