EAST STROUDSBURG – For the second consecutive season, the Denver Broncos have selected East Stroudsburg University assistant football coach James Daniels to take part in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.

The Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship program offers the opportunity for talented minority coaches to work closely with NFL coaches and staff during training camp. The program was established in 1987 and is named after late Pro Football Hall of Fame Head Coach Bill Walsh, who conceived the idea.

Daniels will work with Denver Broncos during training camp for about three weeks from mid-July into early August with film and drill work. The Broncos are coached by ESU alumnus, Vic Fangio '80.

"I'm thrilled to have another opportunity to work with the Denver Broncos," said Daniels of the fellowship. "Vic Fangio and defensive coordinator Ed Donatell are some of the best defensive minds in football and are outstanding coaches. It's another opportunity for me to get better and hopefully help our team get better from the knowledge I acquire from them."

Daniels joined the ESU coaching staff prior to the 2019 season and works directly with defensive backs. Prior to coming to the Poconos, Daniels served on the coaching staffs of the University of Dayton, University of Buffalo, Notre Dame College (Ohio), Ohio Northern University, Becker College and Towson University. As an undergraduate, Daniels helped Mount Union to a NCAA Division III National Championship in 2008.

"We are really excited for James Daniels to be able to return to Denver this summer to work alongside arguably the best defensive minds in the game," said ESU head coach Jimmy Terwilliger.

"James has continued to be an invaluable member of our staff throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as we prepare for the 2021 season. Working alongside ESU alum Vic Fangio is such a tremendous opportunity - not just for James - but for the entire ESU football family. We are thrilled for James that he has another chance to learn from the best in the business through this prestigious fellowship."
