EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University field hockey alumna Domineque Scott '08 '09 will serve as the June guest speaker for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in College Athletics: A Call to Action Speaker Series.
Scott will speak on Wednesday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. through Zoom. After a 20-30 minute presentation, she will answer questions through the chat function of Zoom. The Zoom link can be found on esuwarriors.com/DEI.
"We are honored to have Domineque Scott as our next speaker in this important series," said ESU Director of Athletics Dr. Gary R. Gray. "Domineque's background is amazing and one from which I am sure we can all learn a lot. I know she is a very engaging speaker, and I look forward to hearing her heartfelt message."
Scott is currently relaunching her non-profit, United Through Sport USA. The transition will utilize sport to empower and inspire while building genuine relationships and providing mentorship opportunities for at-risk youth in at-risk communities in Delaware. The goal of the non-profit is to eliminate the financial burden of the club system for at-risk youth and provide quality coaching and mentoring opportunities.
Scott initially got involved with the United Through Sport organization as a volunteer for three months in South Africa. She ended up staying in the country for two years after being offered a job as mass participation program manager, coaching specifically in field hockey and tennis, while tutoring in English and math. Prior to getting involved with United Through Sport, Scott was an assistant field hockey coach at Washington and Lee University. Before she joined the Generals' coaching staff, Scott received a two-year NCAA Ethnic, Minority and Women's grant to be an assistant to the athletic director and an assistant field hockey coach at Washington and Jefferson College.
As a Warrior field hockey student-athlete from 2004 to 2008, Scott totaled four goals and five assists for 13 points. As a senior, she was selected to the NFHCA Division II North-South All-Star game. Scott, graduated from ESU with bachelor's degree in 2008 and a master's degree in 2009, both in sport management.
