Women’s Basketball Captures First PSAC Victory Over Shippensburg; Weise Notches Triple-Double

Weise recorded the first triple-double since 1993

EAST STROUDSBURG – Behind the program's first triple-double in 29 years from graduate student Ryan Weise (10 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists), the East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team picked up their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference win of the season after knocking off Shippensburg, 62-43, on a snowy Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors improve to 2-15 overall and 1-13 in conference play while the Raiders drop to 10-8 overall and 6-6 in the PSAC.

With the victory, ESU snaps their four-game losing streak to Shippensburg.

Weise becomes the first player since Gaye Chapman in 1993 (at West Chester) to record a triple-double in a game and just the second all-time.

The Warriors raced out to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter and pushed their advantage to 42-18 headed into the break. In the second half, ESU was able to keep Shippensburg from getting within striking distance to hold on for the 62-43 win.
