LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After registering heading in equalizing goal that handed No. 2 West Chester its first non-winning result in the regular-season finale, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced on Monday afternoon that Emily Wineburg was selected as the PSAC East Athlete of the Week.
The goal for Wineburg in the 81st minute of actiom was the first goal allowed by the Golden Rams in a month – which ended a shutout streak of seven consecutive contests. The goal was just the fifth allowed by WCU in 17 games this season. ESU is the only team to register more than one goal against the Golden Rams this season, with Rebeca Kotula finding the back of the net in the 15th minute of action on Sept. 24.
On the season, the defender from Bensalem ranks fourth on the Warriors with three goals in 2022, previously scoring against Felician and Mansfield.
ESU, the fourth seed, opens the PSAC Tournament with a rematch against first-seed West Chester in the PSAC Quaterfinal round on Tuesday at noon at Rockwell Field. The winner of that matchup will travel to the highest remaining seed remaining in the PSAC West.
