No. 2 Field Hockey Closes Regular Season with 1-0 Win at #10 IUP

INDIANA – Senior Olivia Breen's goal under five minutes into the contest proved to be the game-winner as the second-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team concluded the regular season on Saturday morning with a 1-0 victory over #10 IUP at George P. Miller Stadium.

ESU concludes the regular season 15-2 overall and 7-2 in the conference while IUP drops to 9-8 and 3-6 in the PSAC.

The Warriors have now defeated the Crimson Hawks 10 consecutive times dating back to 2014.

Both teams await their fate for the PSAC Tournament as other games around the league are scheduled for 1 p.m. Kutztown secured the No. 1 seed and will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Nov. 18 & 20.

On Wednesday, the Warriors ranked third in this week's edition of the 2022 NCAA Atlantic Region rankings with the top three teams advancing to the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships.

  • Breen recorded her fifth goal of the season and her second game-winner at the 4:39 mark
  • Lesh tallied her second assist of the year on the goal from Breen
  • The Warriors dominated possession most of the game while also holding advantages in shots (9-1), shots on goal (4-0) and corners (6-3)
  • Junior goalkeeper Amy Supey did not face a shot on goal on her way to her fourth shutout of the season. The Lehman, Pa. native continues to lead the PSAC and NCAA Division II with a 0.35 goals against average and a 0.868 save percentage
  • In her 38th season, head coach Sandy Miller notched her 474th career victory today, now needing 13 more to move into third all-time in Division II
