Eight Warriors Garner All-PSAC Honors; Breen & Supey Named First Team

LOCK HAVEN – On Thursday, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) unveiled their all-conference and major award winners with eight members of the third-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team among those honored.

Senior Oliva Breen and junior Amy Supey were chosen to the First Team while senior Madison Kline, senior Nicole Krozser, sophomore Jady van Gils and junior Maddy Barbush were named to the Second Team. Seniors Hanna Lewis and Lia Parker rounded out the selections for ESU on the Third Team.

The Warriors had the most all-conference selections and matched their total from 2019 which was the most in program history.

After starting the last 39 games for the Warriors, Breen earned All-PSAC honors for the first time her career after recording six goals and six assists from the back line. The Stroudsburg native was named the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Sept. 6 and has notched a trio of game-winning goals, including an overtime score against West Chester on Tuesday to help ESU advance to the semifinals. Breen also played a key role in the Warriors’ 12 shutouts this season.

Arguably the top goalkeeper in the country, Supey lands on the All-PSAC First Team after leading all of NCAA DII in goals against average at 0.39 and save percentage (0.867). The Lehman native has notched 39 saves and four solo shutouts across 921 minutes in net. Supey garnered PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors back on Oct. 18 and had her best performance of the season on Tuesday with six saves against the Golden Rams.

Kline, the Warriors leading scorer this season with nine goals and five assists, earns All-PSAC honors for the first time career after starting all 18 games for ESU. Kline tallied a pair of goals in victories over Adelphi and Mansfield as well as a trio of game-winners. The Oley native earned Athlete of the Week honors for the first time while wearing the red and black on Sept. 27. 

Krozser becomes a two-time All-PSAC selection after being chosen to the Second Team. Despite missing three games, the senior is second on the team in scoring with 22 points on nine goals and five assists. The Boonton, N.J. native opened the year on fire, notching six goals through the first seven games of the season. She ranks ninth in PSAC in both goals per game (0.64) and points per game (1.57).

van Gils put together an impressive sophomore campaign as she paced the Warriors in assists with seven while also scoring a pair of goals. The Amersfoort, Netherlands native scored one of the biggest goals for ESU this season when she found the back of the net with one second left to lift the Warriors past nationally ranked Millersville, 1-0. van Gils ranks ninth in the PSAC with 0.41 assists per game.

Barbush has helped anchor the ESU defense in all 18 games this season as the Warriors have recorded 12 shutouts as a team. On the way to her first All-PSAC honors, the Manheim native recorded an assist in ESU’s season-opener against St. Thomas Aquinas as well as a pair of defensive saves.

Lewis is tied for the team lead in goals with nine and is third in scoring with 20 points after also recording a pair of assists in 16 games this season. On her way to the first All-PSAC honors of her career, the senior had a stretch with six goals in six games which included a pair in a victory at Molloy. 

After earning All-PSAC Second Team honors a season ago, Parker rounded out the selections for the Warriors after being voted on the Third Team. The East Stroudsburg product has started all 18 games for ESU this season, recording six goals, four assists and a pair of game-winners. Parker was named the PSAC Athlete of the Week and NFHCA DII Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career back on Nov. 1 & 2. 

The Warriors continue postseason play on Friday, taking on #1 Kutztown in a PSAC Semifinal matchup at Andre Reed Stadium. The winner face either Millersville or Shippensburg in the conference championship game on Sunday at noon.
