Four Warriors Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District

EAST STROUDSBURG – On Tuesday, College Sports Communicators announced its football academic all-district teams, with Daryn Blackwell, Anthony Capitini, Raymond Christas and John Siggins all being honored to the CSC Super Region 1 Academic All-District Team. 

Blackwell, now a two-time academic all-district honoree, compiled 27 tackles and recovered a fumble in 11 games as a starter this season. The management and leadership major holds a 3.78 GPA, totaling seven tackles for loss as an interior lineman. Additionally, Blackwell is a member of ESU's track and field indoor and outdoor team and is a The Hidden Opponent Mental Health Team Captain. Blackwell is also holds the role as Co-Chair of the PSAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council.  

Capitini, a do-it-all offensive lineman, started in each of the past 33 games to close his Warrior career. The Phillipsburg, N.J. product started in games at both guard and tackle, earning All-PSAC East honors at guard last season. He was a key factor in ESU ranking 35th nationally and third in the PSAC with 5.09 tackles for loss allowed. A marketing major, Capitini currently holds a 3.85 grade point average.

Christas, who started in all 11 games at center this past season, joins Capitini as Warrior offensive line honorees. The product of York posted a team-best GPA of 3.9 as a health and physical education major. He enters his senior in 2023 with 22 career starts, all at center.  

Siggins, ESU’s second-leading receiver, recorded 24 receptions for 322 yards and three touchdowns. He reached the century mark with 103 receiving yards in the season opener against Pace, and also added touchdowns against Seton Hill and Kutztown. The former Parkland Trojan holds a 3.76 GPA as a biology major. 

The College Sports Communicators Academic (formerly CoSIDA) All-District and Academic All-America teams recognize student-athletes for athletic and academic achievements and are nominated and voted on by members of CSC. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
