Kotula Named to Academic All-America Second Team by College Sports Communicators

She becomes the fifth Warrior in program history to be named an Academic All-American

EAST STROUDSBURG – After previously earning all-conference and all-region recognition, the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday that Rebecca Kotula has become the fifth East Stroudsburg University women's soccer student-athlete in program history to earn Academic All-America status.

Kotula was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Second Team, currently holds a perfect 4.0 GPA as a political science and philosophy double major.

On the pitch, Kotula tied for second in goals in the PSAC (9), ranked seventh in assists (5) for 23 total points, which led the PSAC East.

The Wyomissing product has now earned All-PSAC East First Team, D2CCA Atlantic Region First Team, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team and now College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Second Team this offseason.

She becomes just the fifth ESU women's soccer student-athlete and the first forward to be named an College Sports Communicators Academic All-American (previously named CoSIDA), joining Monica Wood (2019, 3rd team), Nicole Abbott (2018, 2nd team), Andrea Polanco (2016, 2nd team) and Hanna Gombos (2016, 2nd Team).

Kotula enters her senior season with 13 career goals and six assists for 32 points in 36 games.
