MILLERSVILLE – For the second time this week, the East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team dropped a decision to Millersville as the Marauders cruised to a 72-54 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Pucillo Gymnasium.
The Warriors drop to 2-18 on the season and 1-16 in the conference while the Marauders win their third consecutive game to go to 6-14 overall and 5-10 in the PSAC.
Millersville sweeps the season series against ESU for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
The Warriors trailed 15-13 at the end of the first quarter, but after getting outscored by 10 points in the second quarter, the Marauders coasted in the second half for an 18-point win
Notables
- Despite shooting 3-of-13 from the field, Ryan Weise finished with a team-high 11 points
- Cassie Ksiazek added nine points, four rebounds and two steals
- Leah Pishock chipped in eight points, three rebounds and three assists
- Izzy Vogel had six points and a team-best seven rebounds
- ESU shot the basketball poorly in the first three quarters but after going 7-of-14 in the fourth, the Warriors finished the game at 33% (19-57) from the field and 27.3% (3-11) from beyond the arc
- Lauren Lister posted the game-high for the second time this week with 19 points while Brenna Ortwein added 16 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals.
- The Marauders were an efficient 55.3% (26-47) from the floor but only 4-of-14 (28.6%) from the three-point line
- The teams combined to shoot 36 free-throws with the Warriors going 13-of-17 (76.5%) while the Marauders were 16-of-19 (84.2%)

How It Happened
- ESU and Millersville opened the game by trading buckets with the score at 11-9 in favor of the Marauders headed into a late media timeout. Over the final 3:07 of the first quarter, both teams poured in four points to make the score 15-13 headed into the second quarter.
- After the Marauders began the second quarter with a pair of free throws, neither team scored for over the next two minutes before a layup by Ksiazek at the 6:54 mark. From that point on, Millersville would go on to outscore the Warriors 17-7 to hold a 34-22 advantage at the half. During that run, Millersville used a 7-0 spurt in 50 seconds to help extend their lead.
- The Marauders carried their momentum over into the second half as they used a 10-4 out of the gate to push their edge to 44-26 going into a timeout. Out the break, ESU found their footing as they matched Millersville's seven points the rest of the period to make the score 51-33 going into the fourth quarter.
- In a red-hot fourth quarter, both teams scored 21 points as ESU was 7-of-14 (50%) from the field while Millersville went 8-of-12 (66.7%). The Marauders led by as many as 28 points with 6:26 remaining.
