EAST STROUDSBURG – For the second consecutive week, East Stroudsburg University women's track & field freshman Elizabeth Makar has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Makar dominated last week's 22nd Annual DeSchriver Invitational by winning the shot put and weight throw with personal-best marks. Makar's effort of 14.55m eclipsed the school record for the third straight week and her weight throw toss of 15.35m was the fourth-best mark in program history.
Makar has recorded a PSAC qualifying mark for both events at every meet this season and it was also the third time she's surpassed the shot put NCAA provisional standard in as many meets.
The Oxford, Pa. native continues to lead the PSAC in the event and moved up to fifth in the weight throw after the weekend. In all of NCAA Division II, Makar ranks 12th in the shot put with the top-16 advancing to the Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
