NEW ORLEANS – East Stroudsburg University standout Shannon Harnett was named the Atlantic Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year and assistant coach Karen Gaita was named the Atlantic Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA), released Monday afternoon. The pair also received the same regional honors following the indoor season.
Harnett capped another standout campaign with a First Team All-America finish in the high jump at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. She placed sixth in the high jump and 17th in the long jump. At the PSAC Championships, Harnett totaled 19 points in field events, finishing second in the triple jump, third in the long jump, and fourth in the high jump. She also set new school records in both the long jump and triple jump this season.
Gaita guided both Harnett and Porschia Bennett to First Team All-America honors in the high jump at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. The duo ranked second and third in the region, while ESU had the second-highest team score among the Atlantic Region programs.
