LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- After a season that saw milestones reached and records broken, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday afternoon that junior designated player Katherine Donaghue has been selected to the All-PSAC East First Team, while freshman pitcher Katie Zaun earned a spot on the All-PSAC East Second Team.

Additionally, the Division II Conference Commissioners' Association (D2CCA) announced on Wednesday that Zaun garnered D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team accolades.

Donaghue boasted a .343 batting average in 32 games this season, smacking 24 hits including four doubles and three home runs. She contributed 14 RBIs and led ESU with a .460 on base percentage by drawing 10 walks and six hit-by-pitches.

She becomes the second consecutive Warrior designated player to earn All-PSAC East accolades, with Morgan Walsh earning All-PSAC Second Team honors in 2021.

The Walkersville, Md. native came up with clutch hits throughout the season, including a go-ahead home run against West Chester, a game-tying round tripper against Bloomsburg, and her third home run sparked a seventh inning rally to defeat Gannon in the opening game of the PSAC Tournament.

She posted a 10-game reached base streak during the season, ranking second on the team to Molly Nies' 12-game streak.

Zaun D2CCA and PSAC

Just a freshman, Zaun put together one of the best pitching campaigns in Warrior history in 2022. She posted a 1.62 ERA, with a 12-6 record, striking out a program single season record 166 batters and administered just 17 walks. Of her 11 complete games, five were shutouts. She held opponents to a .198 batting average and average nearly 10 strikeouts per seven innings.

In the conference, Zaun led the league in strikeouts per seven innings (9.6, 16th nationally) ranked second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (9.76, 5th nationally), hits allowed per seven innings (5.08, 47th nationally), WHIP (0.87, 16th nationally), walks allowed per seven innings (0.98, 25th nationally) and third in ERA (1.62).

The Allentown native tossed double digits in strikeouts in seven contests, reaching a season-best 13 strikeouts against Holy Family and Shippensburg. She allowed three earned runs or less in 23 of her 25 appearances.

Zaun closed her first year in the Poconos by setting records for strikeouts in a season (166), strikeouts per seven innings (9.6), batting average against (.169), strikeout to walk ratio along with posting the seventh-best ERA in a season since 1985 (1.63).

She becomes the second pitcher in program history to earn all-region honors from the D2CCA, joining Marah Range, who was named to the D2CCA All-Region First Team in 2021.

The Warriors wrapped up the 2022 season with an impressive 34-11 record, setting records for wins in a season and longest winning streak (17). Over the past two seasons, ESU has combined for a 63-27 record.
