ESU looks to build off of a 5-6 season in 2021, and will face a difficult campaign once again in 2022. ESU opens the season on the road on Thursday Sept. 1, traveling East on I-80 to Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y. The Warriors got the best of the Setters in the season-opener a season ago at Eiler-Martin Stadium by a score of 35-14.
The Warriors will then face a pair of PSAC West foes in IUP (Sept. 10) in the home opener and will then trek to Greensburg to face Seton Hill (Sept. 17). ESU and IUP meet for the first time since 2017, as the Warriors seek its first victory over the Crimson Hawks over its last six matchups. ESU holds a 3-0 lead in the series history against the Griffins, last meeting in Western Pennsylvania during the 2019 season.
The Warriors return home for a two-game stretch opening PSAC East action at home for Family Weekend on Sept. 24 against Lock Haven. ESU will then welcome defending PSAC East champion Kutztown to Eiler Martin Stadium on the first day of October. After a trip to Millersville (Oct. 8), the Warriors celebrate Homecoming on Oct. 15 against West Chester, before a two-game road stretch to Bloomsburg (Oct. 22) and Shippensburg (Oct. 29).
ESU will honor its seniors on its final home game of the regular season on Nov. 5 against Shepherd. The Warriors are slated to face California (Pa.) in Western Pa. on Nov. 12, if they do not qualify for the State Game. The Warriors seek its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2009, with the playoffs beginning on Nov. 19.
