FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The East Stroudsburg University men's cross country team opened the 2022 campaign in impressive fashion, claiming first place overall in the 8k event at the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite on Friday at Bethpage Polo at the Park.

The Warriors had five of the top 11 finishers in the race to capture the program's first top-finish since October 12, 2019, at the DeSales University Invitational.

Freshman Landon Boyle was spectacular in his collegiate debut for the Warriors, earning a runner-up finish after clocking a time of 26:35.50. He was followed by sophomore Brian McGarrity in third after he finished in 26:46.70.

Graduate student Luke Valdevit rounded out the top-five with a time 26:57.70 and freshman Emmanuel Gitonga was right behind in sixth, finishing in 27:06.10. Coming in 11th place with a time of 27:22.80 was senior Camden Shaffer, while sophomore Evan Wooby (13th – 27:31.50) and freshman Andrew Dowdell (42nd – 30:02.90) capped off the finishes for the Warriors.
