BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- After 64 minutes of scoreless action, East Stroudsburg University women's soccer sophomore Natalie Schooley was able to head in the eventual game-winning goal off a corner kick to lift the East Stroudsburg University women' soccer team to a 1-0 victory over No. 13 Bloomsburg on Wednesday evening inside in Steph Pettit Stadium.
The Warriors improve to 6-2-2 on the season and remain in fourth place with 14 points with a 4-2-2 PSAC East record. The Huskies (8-2, 6-2 PSAC East) suffer their second loss of the season, and have their five-game shutout streak snapped.
Notables
- Schooley's goal was her third of the season. The Cherry Hill, N.J. native now ranks third on the squad with seven points in 10 contests.
- Teagan Marshall registered an assist on the eventual game-winner, sending in the corner kick that led to the lone goal. The assist is her second of the year.
- In goal, freshman goalkeeper Emmy Clarkson registered five saves on five shots for the clean sheet. The shutout is the second of her young career as a Warrior.
- ESU led 11-10 on shots, while both squads tallied five shots on goal.
- The Warriors held a slim lead in corner kicks, by a margin of 3-2.
- The win for the Warriors is its first victory against a nationally-ranked team since 2019, when ESU handed No. 15 Millersville a 1-0 win. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak against nationally-ranked competition. ESU is now 31-58-12 all-time against United Soccer Coaches Top-25 squads.
- With the ESU men's soccer team earning a 2-1 win over #25 West Chester later in the evening, it marks the first time both Warrior soccer teams earned wins over ranked opponents since 1999. On Oct. 23, 1999, the Warrior men defeated #9 Dowling, 3-2 at home, while the ESU women's soccer team registered a 2-1 overtime victory against #25 West Virginia Wesleyan that same day.
- The Warriors first accomplished the feat in 1997, when ESU downed 10th ranked Lock Haven in the PSAC Tournament in a pair of 2-1 contests at LHU on Nov. 8, 1997.

- 65' | Marshall sent in the corner kick, as Schooley was able to fight in traffic to get a head on the ball. Schooley sent the shot past the goalkeeper and another Husky who looked to defend the shot, for the eventual game-winning goal.
