EAST STROUDSBURG – It was a happy day for the eight East Stroudsburg University women's soccer seniors, as ESU downed Mansfield, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors (7-2-2, 5-2-2) pull of the season-sweep of Mansfield with the win, while the Mountaineers (2-8-1, 5-2-2) fall for the second consecutive contest.
Finding the back of the net were Ella Connolly, Rebecca Kotula and Emily Wineburg for ESU.
Notables
- Abby James tallied two assists, while Kotula also had a helper.
- ESU dominated in possession and shots, outshooting the Mounties by a mark (16-4), shots on goal (10-1) and corner kicks (7-2).
- With the goal, Kotula now leads the PSAC with seven goals and 19 points, five points more than the second place.
- With the win, ESU is now tied with Kutztown, who have identical 5-2-2 conference records for third place in the PSAC East.
- Warriors' goalkeeper Emmy Clarkson needed to make just one save for her third shutout and second consecutive clean sheet. MU's Samantha Merklin recorded seven saves.
- Prior to the game, ESU's Evencia Welsh, Olivia Hudson, Luiza Bueno, Caitlin Nicholls, Caitlynn Leffler, Alessia Bianchini and Miranda Kullman were all honored by the ESU athletic department for their contributions to the team and university.

How it Happened
- 11' | Off a corner kick, Tegan Marshall sent a short pass to Kotula, who sent in a pass into a traffic. James was send a potential shot that found Connolly's foot and went into the back of the net.
- 23' | James then found Kotula, who rocketed one of her patented long-distance goals from 20-yards out that found the far-side top corner.
- 36' | Off a corner, Kotula headed a pass deep in the Mansfield defensive zone. With a pair of Mountie defenders near the goal line, Wineburg found space and sent a high shot over the head of the Mountie GK and into the net.

- ESU will have the week off of game competition before heading south to Kutztown on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. against the Golden Bears.
