EAST STROUDSBURG – On Sunday night, D2Football.com revealed its annual Elite 100 Team, as East Stroudsburg University kicker Devin Bartholomew and defensive lineman Deshawn McCarthy were both honored on the D2 Football Elite 100 Second Team.
It's the second consecutive season that McCarthy has been featured on the list of the top players in NCAA Division II, while the All-America honor is the second this season for Bartholomew, after being selected to the AFCA All-America Second Team earlier this offseason.
This past season, Bartholomew made 17 of his 23 field goal attempts, including 11-of-13 from inside 40 yards.
He was a perfect 28-28 this season on PAT attempts, improving his collegiate career mark to 57-57. The Warriors have made every point after touchdown the last three seasons (97-97 PAT), including its previous 99 attempts dating back to the 2018 finale.
Bartholomew ranked third nationally in field goals per game, 32nd in field goal percentage. In points scored this season - among all players - his 79 points rank 46th in NCAA Division II and fifth in the PSAC.
McCarthy a two-time All-PSAC East First Team defensive lineman, continued his strong Warrior career in 2022. The Philadelphia native recorded 36 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, three forced fumbles and four pass deflections this past season. He ranked sixth in the conference in sacks and ninth in tackles for loss and paced the conference in forced fumbles per game.
Entering 2023, McCarthy has 25 career sacks (5th most at ESU), 38.5 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles (tied for ninth). He becomes just the second Warrior since the award began in 2000 to earn the honor multiple times, joining wide receiver Evan Prall in 2005 and 2006.
2022 marks the third time in program history that multiple Warriors have been named to the list, joining Evan Prall and current Warrior head coach Jimmy Terwilliger in 2005 and teammates Jim Sodano and Adam Hostetter in 2001.
