SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Holding a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute, the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team could not prevent a pair of goals in the 61st and 72nd minute, as the Warriors and Shepherd settled for a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon at the SU Soccer Complex.
The Warriors (9-1-3, 7-1-3 PSAC East) and the Rams (3-4-5, 1-4-5 PSAC East) settle for a point each in the PSAC East standings with the tie. The draw for ESU and West Chester's 1-0 win against Mansfield knots both ESU and WCU for second place.
Notables
- Warrior leading goal scorer Natalie Schooley opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 27th minute of action. The Cherry Hill, N.J. native now has seven goals and three assists for 17 points in just 13 games this season. She is now tied for second in the PSAC with seven players with seven goals on the season. Schooley's 17 points are tied for the fifth most in the league.
- Abby James recorded her first goal of the campaign. The Nazareth graduate now has seven points in her career. Millie Smith was credited with an assist on the goal.
- ESU GK Emmy Clarkson (9-1-3) led the match with six saves in her third tie of the season. SU GK Alayna Burgamy made a pair of saves in the 90-minute contest.
- ESU saw its program-record-matching four-match shutout streak come to a close during the 61st minute. Overall, ESU's and Clarkson's scoreless streak lasted 500 minutes. ESU has now posted four consecutive shutouts in 1993, 2014, 2016 and 2023.
- SU's Paris Kimbrell made the contest a one-goal game, with an assist from Delaney Bittner. Taylor Schuck was able to find the back of net and tie the game on a pass from Erika Moore.
- Shepherd led 15-12 on shots, 8-4 on shots on goal and 3-2 on corner kicks. SU was charged with two yellow cards, with one in each half.
