EAST STROUDSBURG – After trailing 1-0 and 2-1 early in the first half, the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team settled down and exploded for seven consecutive goals to down Lock Haven, 8-2, to clinch a PSAC Tournament berth on Wednesday evening inside Eiler-Martin Stadium.
With three games remaining, the Warriors (10-2-3, 8-2-3 PSAC East) now look to secure a home game in the PSAC Quarterfinal round. The Bald Eagles (4-9-1, 3-8-1 PSAC East) fell for the second consecutive contest.
Six Warriors accounted for the eight goals, with
Sydnie Wright registering two goals on the day to pace ESU.
Notables
- Along with Wright's two goals, Moira Delaney, Natalie Schooley, Millie Smith and Jessica Harpel all found the back of the net with goals. Lock Haven gave up an own goal during the 59th minute of action.
- Wright, Delaney and Harpel's scores were the first of the season.
- Schooley now has eight goals and 19 points on the season to lead the Warriors, while Smith is ranks second with five goals and 12 points. Nia Cinapoo's goal was her second in two games and now has three during her freshman season.
- Recording assists were Sarah Miscevich, Abby James, Maddie Lamb and Rebecca Kotula.
- ESU GK Emmy Clarkson (10-2-3) made a save in her 10th win of the season.
- ESU's eight goals are the most this season and the most since the Warriors earned a 9-0 road win at California (Pa.) on Sept. 22, 2017.
- Since the program's inception in 1992, the Warriors have scored at least eight goals in 13 contests, reaching the program record of 10 goals on four occasions, most recently in 1997.
- The Warriors secured its 17th trip to the PSAC Tournament in the victory over the Bald Eagles. With three games remaining, ESU (27 pts.) looks to overtake second place from West Chester (28 pts.) and earn a home playoff game in the PSAC Quarterfinals.
- Along with goals, ESU led 23-7 in shots, 17-3 on shots on goal and 5-3 on shots on goal.

6' | Off a free kick, Trinity Seaman found Evelyn Ciaccia for a header, as the shot went to the low left corner.
15' | LHU retook the lead a few minutes later. Ciaccia was able to find Avery Landrum in space, as Landrum sent a shot past Clarkson, who came out of the net to attempt to make a stop. Landrum was able to get a shot off late that found the back of the net.
