EAST STROUDSBURG – In its home-opening meet, the East Stroudsburg University swimming team split against California (Pa.) and Kutztown in the annual ESU Tri-Meet on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Warriors defeated California (Pa.), 129-70 and fell just short against Kutztown by a score of 105-99.
ESU took first place in five of the 11 events and four Warriors totaled seven PSAC Qualifying marks. Additionally,
Anique Hazebroek (2) and
Kennedy Leveto combined to crack the top-10 in program history in three events.

- Anique Hazebroek: 500-yd freestyle (5:18.43, 4th fastest at ESU), 1000-yd freestyle (10:52.78, 3rd fastest at ESU)
- Kennedy Leveto: 100-yd breaststroke (1:08.71, eighth fastest at ESU)
How It Happened
- The Warriors earned a second-place and fifth-place finish in the the opening event, the 200-yd medley relay. ESU's Jenna Johnson, Kennedy Leveto, Avery Fohring and Emily Gambler combined for the runner-up time of 1:54.17.
- Hazebroek took runner-up honors in the 1000-yd freestyle next, posting a PSAC qualifying time and the third-fastest time in program-history since 1995 with a time of 10:52.78. Sam Grayauskie followed in third place with a time of 11:45.45.
- Madison Tafe led the Warriors with a third-place finish in the 200-yd freestyle with a time of 2:06.67. She nearly took second, with Maddy Moretti (Cal) earning runner-up honors with a time of 2:06.11.
- Renshof picked up her first of two first-place finishes in the 50-yd freestyle. She topped the competition with a time of 24.51 in the event. Leveto followed in third place with another PSAC mark of 25.54. Nina Marchese took seventh (28.35) to round out the Warriors.
- Freshman Helia Wang tallied her first career PSAC qualifying mark next, booking a trip to Carlisle in February with a time of 4:57.61 for runner-up honors in the event.
- Avery Forhing topped the competition in the 100-yd butterfly, with a time of 1:04.15 for the event victory. Teammate Emily Gambler followed in second place with a finish time of 1:04.61 in a close race.
- Renshof earned her second first-place finish in the 100-yd freestyle, as she is within less than a second of the NCAA B Cut time. Her time of 52.90 bested the second-place finisher from Kutztown by nearly four seconds.
- Jenna Johnson (3rd place, 1:04.08) and Sam Grayauskie (4th place, 1:06.35) led ESU in the 100-yd backstroke in a pair of top-five finishes.
- Hazebroek recorded her second PSAC mark of the meet next in the 500-yd freestyle, compiling a time of 5:18.43, less than a tenth of a second behind first placve Annamaire Rodier (5:18.39) of Kutztown. Helia Wang (4th, 5:39.50) and Madison Tafe (6th, 5:43.25) took top-six finishes.
- Leveto earned a first-place, PSAC Qualifying mark and topped her previous collegiate-best time in the 100-yd breaststroke with a time of 1:08.81. She continues to rank eighth all-time at ESU in the event since 1995.
- The Warriors earned its fifth and final event victory in the final relay, the 400-yd freestyle relay. Jenna Johnson, Emily Gambler, Anique Hazebroek and Vera Renshof combined for a time of 3:44.60 to close the meet.
