15 In A Row For Volleyball With 3-0 Win at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University volleyball team completed the season sweep of Bloomsburg and extended its winning streak to 15 matches with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-16) victory over the Huskies in a PSAC East match on Saturday evening inside Nelson Field House.

The Warriors, who have now defeated Bloomsburg (8-15, 4-6 PSAC East) in all 10 meetings since the Huskies volleyball program started in 2018, is still a perfect 10-0 in the conference and improved their overall record to 18-5 on the year.

During the 15-match win streak, the Warriors have defeated 12 opponents in straight sets including the last seven the Warriors have faced.

Notables vs. Bloomsburg
  • For the second straight match, Anna Coulter proved why she was the named the PSAC Athlete of the Week as the sophomore finished with a match-high 15 kills on a .682 hitting percentage to go along with six digs, four aces, one block and an assist
  • Kaylee LoPresto recorded her fourth double-double of the season as the senior finished with 10 kills, 11 digs and a trio of aces
  • Senior Sydney Stone and sophomore Ava Hunt combined for 16 kills as the duo each notched eight
  • Graduate student Claire Choloux added four kills, 11 digs and two aces
  • Taylor Haan finished just shy of a double-double as the sophomore totaled 43 assists, nine digs, two kills and a block
  • Senior Makayla Baca and junior Makaela McComas nearly had identical stat line as duo combined for 23 digs, two assists and two aces. With 12 more digs, Baca inched closer to 1,000 for her ESU career with 850 and counting.
  • For Bloomsburg, Marlee Johnson and Shayna Warfel each had six kills while Elise Adelman contributed three kills, 16 assists and nine digs
  • ESU had the edge in hitting percentage, .287-.154, as well as aces, 11-2, but the Huskies finished with the advantage in blocks, 6-1
How it Happened vs. Bloomsburg
  • After ESU ripped off a 4-0 to start the match, Bloomsburg chipped away to make the score 7-5 until the Warriors scored three straight points to push the lead back to 8-5. The Huskies trimmed the deficit to three at 10-7, 11-8 and 12-9 but not before ESU went on a 6-2 run to grow their edge to 18-11. Bloomsburg would get as close as four points (18-14 & 23-19) the rest of the way as ESU closed out the set 25-20.
     
  • ESU carried over momentum into the second set, jumping out in front 8-1 and 11-2 before a Bloomsburg timeout. Out of the break, ESU kept its foot on the gas for the remainder of the frame as the Warriors outscored the Huskies, 14-10, to earn a 25-12 set to victory and 2-0 lead in the match.
     
  • With the score deadlocked at 2-2 to open the last set, the Warriors produced a 10-3 run to pull ahead 12-5. ESU maintained a seven-point edge at 18-11 and ultimately closed out the set by scoring seven of the final 12 points (25-16) to complete the sweep.
