Warrior Football Lands 10 on All-PSAC East Teams, Most Selections Since 2005

11/15/2023 2:23:00 PM

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday that 10 East Stroudsburg University football players were named to All-PSAC East teams, the most all-conference selections for the Warriors since 2005.

Landing on the All-PSAC East First Team for the Warriors were Tim Kinney (OT), Dasean Dixon (DL), Deshawn McCarthy and Jahmere Crumpton. ESU’s six All-PSAC East Second Team selections include: Tyriq Lewis (RB), Raymond Christas (C), Jonathan Post (TE), John Siggins (WR), Justin Cook (Return Specialist) and Sergei Felizor (LB).

Kinney returned to the Warriors after missing the final nine games a season ago with an injury and hasn’t missed a beat, earning his first All-PSAC East recognition. The East Stroudsburg South graduate has been a major factor in ESU’s resurgent season offensively. Despite helping block for three different quarterbacks and several Warrior rushers, ESU has posted a top-three rushing offense in the conference and the seventh-best passing offense in the 16-team PSAC. He has started all 11 games this season at left tackle and has started 35 games at either left or right tackle for the Warriors since his freshman season in 2019.

Dixon earns his first All-PSAC East honor after an impressive season at defensive tackle, totaling 56 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and is tied for the team-lead in team sacks with fellow first team selection Deshawn McCarthy. He put together a career performance against Shippensburg earlier this season, with 11 tackles, and 2.5 sacks against the Raiders. He also registered seven tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks against Millersville on Homecoming. The Washington, D.C. native ranks third on the team in tackles and has started in all 11 contests this season. The sophomore has totaled 78 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. Dixon has helped the Warriors to the top rushing defense in the PSAC (83.1 yards per game), which ranks 10th nationally.

McCarthy becomes just the second defensive lineman and eighth Warrior all-time to earn All-PSAC East First Team honors in three seasons. This season, the Philadelphi native has totaled 29 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and six sacks, along with five pass breakups and is credited with four quarterback hurries, despite consistent double teams. One the most accomplished pass rushers in program history, McCarthy ranks third all-time in program history with 31 career sacks, trailing all-time leaders Des Hussey and Bill Camp by just two sacks entering the weekend. The 2021 AFCA All-America First Team selection has totaled 135 tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 31 sacks, 14 pass breakups and five forced fumbles to date.

Crumpton, a team captain alongside McCarthy and Raymond Christas, has been a ballhawk this season with a team-high four interceptions, six pass breakups, along with a forced fumble and 26 tackles this season. The four-year starter has been a force in ESU’s defense that ranks second nationally in passes intercepted (19), seventh in turnovers gained (27) and 34th in total defense. Crumpton has totaled his four interceptions over his past five games, recording two picks against Shippensburg, which included an interception return for a touchdown. The West Catholic graduate has started in 34 games at ESU since 2019, totaling 118 tackles, four tackles for loss, six interceptions and two forced fumbles as a Warrior.

Lewis has put together a career year for ESU during his redshirt junior season, leading ESU with 773 yards on the ground and eight touchdowns. He’s averaged 5.6 yards per carry and 70.3 yards per game this season. Also a threat in the pass game, the Downingtown native has recorded 68 receiving yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns. ESU’s leading scorer this season with 62 points on 10 touchdowns and a two-point conversion, Lewis surpassed 1,000 career rushing yards this season. In 32 games at ESU, Lewis has totaled 1,458 yards, 12 touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per attempt. He anchors the third-best rushing offense in the PSAC and the 44th in NCAA DII.

Christas has served as a team captain and is one of the Warrior leaders on the offensive line, starting in all 11 games this season at center. Along with Kinney, Christas has snapped and protected three successful quarterbacks three different quarterbacks. ESU has posted a top-three rushing offense in the conference and the seventh-best passing offense in the 16-team PSAC, despite a variety of quarterbacks and playmakers. The native of York has made 33 starts on the ESU offensive line since 2019.

Post has become one of the top red zone threats for ESU this season for the Warrior quarterbacks, recording 10 catches for 111 yards and four touchdowns. He collected touchdown receptions against Lock Haven, Kutztown, West Chester and Bloomsburg this season, recording at least one reception in eight of 11 regular season games. In addition to his pass-catching duties, the Sellersville, Pa. native has also helped the one of the most successful rushing offenses in the PSAC, freeing up Tyriq Lewis and Tahir Mills with blocks.

Siggins, ESU’s leading receiver in 2023, has led a versatile receiving corps with 29 catches, 442 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. The Allentown native brought down a pair of touchdown passes against Millersville on Homecoming and last week in a must-win game against California (PA). He has posted atl east 50 yards receiving in five contests, including an 120-yard outburst against Seton Hill. In 32 games at ESU, the Parkland High School graduate has accumulated 54 receptions, 780 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Cook has been one of the most consistent returners in NCAA Division II this season, ranking 12th nationally in combined kick-return yardage (651), along with ranking 16th with an average kickoff return of 26 yards. He was named the PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week after a combined 67 kickoff returns yards against West Chester. Cook is ESU’s second-leading receiver with 382 yards on 30 receptions and a touchdown. He paces the Warriors and ranks eighth in the PSAC and 75th in NCAA Division II with 93.9 all-purpose yards per game.

Felizor has been a tackling machine for the Warriors, posting 102 in 11 contests this season. He was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week after 14 solo tackles and 15 total, along with a forced fumble and blocked PAT against Shepherd and has 29 over the past two weeks with 14 tackles on his senior day. He posted a career high 16 tackles against Millersville this season, reaching 10-plus tackles in four matchups. He reached the century-mark in tackles for the second consecutive season, becoming the first Warrior since former All-America selection Matt Freed posted three consecutive seasons of 100-plus tackles from 2006-2008. As a Warrior in 35 games, the Hightstown, N.J. native has 229 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions, 10 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two blocked kicks.
