LOCK HAVEN – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference unveiled its 2023 Volleyball All-PSAC Teams and major award winners on Thursday as sophomore Anna Coulter earned Athlete of the Year honors while senior Makayla Baca was named the Defensive Athlete of the Year.

Junior Taylor Haan earned First Team All-PSAC East honors alongside Baca and Coulter, while senior Kaylee LoPresto was named Second Team All-PSAC. The three First Team nods for ESU are the most in program history since 2000 and the four total selections are the highest since 2006. Additionally, Coulter becomes the ninth Warrior in program history to garner a pair of First Team All-PSAC nominations during her career.

Baca and Coulter became the first duo in program history to receive Defensive Athlete and Athlete of the Year honors in the same season. Baca is only the second player to receive the Defensive Athlete of the Year award in program history as she joined Trea-sure Ketter (2019). Additionally, Coulter becomes the fourth Athlete of the Year overall in school history and second in the last three years as Ali Finch (2021), April Mellott (200) and Megan McCulty (1996) were previously honored.

Baca (Santa Fe, New Mexico/Capital) is now a two-time All-PSAC selection in her career at ESU after landing on the Second Team a season ago. The senior leads the Warriors with 456 total digs and exceeded the 1,000 mark for her career back on October 13. A two-time PSAC East Athlete of the Week this year, Baca ranks fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.80) and seventh in total digs. Baca notched a career-high 31 digs back on October 7, 2022, vs. West Chester and recorded her first career double-double on Tuesday night with 18 digs and 10 assists against Shepherd in the PSAC Quarterfinals.

Coulter (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) elevated her game to the next level this season as the sophomore earned Athlete of the Year honors and First Team All-PSAC recognition for the second consecutive year. The Hershey native racked up three straight PSAC East Athlete of the Week awards from October 23 through November 6 and leads the Warriors with 308 kills, 4.27 points per set and 81 blocks. The Hershey native matched or set several career-highs this season including 18 kills vs. Shippensburg, five aces against Lock Haven, six blocks vs. Bowie and West Liberty as well as a .833 attacking percentage at Kutztown. Additionally, Coulter notched 20 matches this season with 10+ kills including the last eight contests.

Coulter is among the league’s best in numerous different categories including first in hitting percentage (0.415), fifth in points per set, fifth in aces per set (0.48), eighth in kills per set (3.24), eighth in total aces, 11th in total kills, 12th in blocks per set (0.85) and 12th in total blocks. In all of NCAA Division II, she ranks 11th in hitting percentage.

Haan (Phoenix, Arizona/Sunnyslope) is in the midst of a career season as the junior earned First Team All-PSAC honors for the first time. She currently leads the team with 869 assists, surpassing the 1,000 mark in her career back on November 3, to go along with 75 kills, 233 digs, 52 aces and 42 blocks. A three-time PSAC East Athlete of the Week, Haan tallied her third consecutive double-double last night and 10th of the year. This season she notched a career-high 52 assists at New Haven while matching career-highs with six aces vs. Saint Rose and four blocks at Millersville. Haan has left her mark all over the PSAC rankings as the Phoenix native is second in aces per set (0.58), third in total aces, fourth in assists per set (9.76) and sixth in total assists. Nationally, Haan is 12th in aces per set, 36th in aces and 47th in assists per set.

LoPresto (Litchfield Park, Arizona/Millennium) becomes a two-time Second Team All-PSAC honoree after earning the accolades in 2022. She is nearing a second consecutive 250-250 digs/kills campaign as the senior has 246 kills and 247 digs to go along with 20 aces, 18 assists and 16 blocks. LoPresto has notched five double-doubles this season and last night she recorded a career-high 22 kills in a five-set win over the Rams. Among PSAC rankings, LoPresto is 17th in kills per set (2.73).

The Warriors travel to Shippensburg on Friday evening to battle No. 1 (W) Gannon in a PSAC Semifinals match at 5 p.m. inside Heiges Field House.
