On Monday, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) announced that East Stroudsburg University volleyball middle blocker
Anna Coulter was named to the AVCA & D2CCA All-Atlantic Region First Teams.
Coulter becomes just the third player in program history to garner first team recognition from the D2CCA and fourth overall, joining Ali Finch (2023) and Tre-sure Ketter (2019). As a first-team selection, Coulter will now appear on the national ballot for All-America consideration. Additionally, she is the 13th player to earn AVCA honors and first since Sarah Smith and Ketter in 2019.
Coulter took her game to the next level this year as the Hershey native earned PSAC East Athlete of the Year honors as well as First Team All-PSAC recognition for the second consecutive year. Coulter produced three straight PSAC East Athlete of the Week awards from October 23 through November 6 and led ESU with 322 kills, 4.23 points per set, a .407 hitting percentage and 87 blocks. She equaled or set several career-highs this season including 18 kills vs. Shippensburg, five aces against Lock Haven and a .833 attacking percentage at Kutztown. Additionally, Coulter notched 21 matches this season with 10+ kills including the final nine contests.
Coulter was among the PSAC's best in a handful of different categories including first in hitting percentage (0.407), fifth in points per set (4.23), seventh in aces per set (0.48), eighth in kills per set (3.22), eighth in total aces (48), 10th in total kills, 11th in blocks per set (0.85) and 12th in total blocks. In all of NCAA Division II, she ranks 11th in hitting percentage.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
The Warriors finished the 2023 season 22-7 overall and 13-1 in the PSAC East in the third year under head coach
Tricia Melfy.
