LOCK HAVEN – Bri Hennett continued to re-write the record books as the Northumberland native notched the highest finish by a freshman in school history while leading the East Stroudsburg University women's cross country team to an eighth place finish at the 2023 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships, hosted by Lock Haven, on Saturday morning at the West Branch Cross Country Course.

The eighth place finish by the Warriors matched the highest since 2017, while Hennett eclipsed Georgianna Messinger's (1984) and Tina Vosper's (1995) best finishes of 13th at the NCAA Regionals in their respective years.

Hennett cut off over a minute of her time from the PSAC Championships two weeks ago as she finished the 6K in 21:17.6 to take seventh. The two-time PSAC Athlete of the Week was the only freshman to finish in the top-10 and became the first Warrior to earn All-Region honors since Kaylyn West in 2017.

Graduate student Holly Chambers finished just out the top-30 in 38th with a time of 22:35.0, while freshman Payton Falkenstein took 52nd after crossing the line in 22:52.4. First-year student Carla Bautista was 57th at 22:59.4 and fellow classmate Mia Sisilli rounded out the scoring for ESU in 80th with a time of 23:22.9.

Also representing the Warriors at the Atlantic Region Championships was Kiera Wimbush (82nd – 23:28.7) and Megan Elgrim (93rd – 23:37.9) with top-100 finishes.
