EAST STROUDSBURG – Trailing 2-0 after the 29th minute of action, the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team secured the No. 3 seed in the PSAC East in the upcoming PSAC Tournament with two unanswered goals in a 2-2 draw with Mansfield on Friday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
With the draw, the Warriors (10-4-4, 8-4-4 PSAC East) tie Bloomsburg for third-place in the PSAC East with each team tallying 28 points. The Warriors earn the tiebreaker with a 1-0-1 record against the Huskies this season in head-to-head play. The Mounties (3-12-3, 2-11-3 PSAC East) pick up a draw to close its season, snapping a six-game losing streak.
Notables
- Rebecca Kotula cut the deficit to one during the 43rd minute of action. After Emily Wineburg sent a cross that was smacked away by the goalkeeper, Abby James took possession and sent a backwards pass to Kotula. Kotula took a one-timer shot that found the leftside of the net with the MU goalkeeper displaced. The goal for Kotula is her fourth of the season.
- With exactly 12 minutes remaining, Natalie Schooley tied the contest. After a through ball was deflected back towards her, Schooley regained possession and found space, firing a deep shot that found the bottom right corner of the net for the equalizer.
- Jakayla Holmes opened the scoring for Mansfield, with Danielle Drain providing the assist. Just over a minute later, Aleigha Rieppel found the back of the net off an olimpico goal, scoring directly off a corner kick.
- ESU led in shots (27-9), shots on goal (13-5) and corners (6-1). Both squads were issued a yellow card.
- The Warriors' Emmy Clarkson made three saves in the outing. Mansfield's Samantha Merklin countered with 11 saves in net for the Mounties.
- Prior to the match, ESU honored its five seniors in Tia Sheehy, Maddie Root, Mikayla Moats, Carina Gasparini and Brienn Seaman for their contributions to both the Warriors' women's soccer team and East Stroudsburg University.

How It Happened
- 28' | Danielle Drain made a deep, impressive pass that found Holmes' foot, as Clarkson could not breakup the play in time. Holmes was able to redirect a shot towards the far-side of the net.
- 29 ' | A minute later, Rieppel's corner kick went above the outstretched arms of Clarkson, as the shot curved into the net to make it 2-0 contest.
