INDIANAPOLIS – After seeing its four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Shepherd, the NCAA announced on Monday afternoon that the East Stroudsburg University football team is ranked seventh in the final NCAA Super Region rankings of the season.
The Warriors (8-2, 5-2 PSAC East) closed the conference schedule against the Rams with a 43-17 loss to SU. ESU previously ranked fourth in the NCAA Super Region 1 rankings.
ESU enters the final week of the regular season in the seventh and final spot in the region for the NCAA Tournament. The Warriors look to potentially secure an NCAA Tournament berth win a win against California (Pa.) on Saturday, who ranks fourth in SR1 this week after a 34-17 win over Gannon.
Through 10 games, ESU leads the PSAC in defensive touchdowns (4, 4th nationally), fumbles lost (2, 4th nationally) and red zone offense (92.9%, 4th nationally) Additionally, the Warriors rank second in 3rd down conversion percentage (.464), 4th down conversion percentage (61.1%), passes intercepted (16, 11th nationally), rushing defense (88.6, 17th nationally), rushing offense (179.9, 37th nationally), team passing efficiency (162.77, 13th nationally), total defense (286.2, 28th nationally), turnover margin (1.30, 10th nationally), turnovers gained (23, 12th nationally) and turnovers lost (10, 16th nationally).
The Warriors (8-2) and Vulcans (7-2) battle on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium for Senior Day with NCAA postseason implications on the line.
