GENEVA N.Y. – On Tuesday, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) named six East Stroudsburg University student-athletes to the 2023 Division II All-American Team. Senior Maddy Barbush, graduate student Nicole Krozser and junior Jady van Gils landed on the First Team while seniors Madison Kline, Grace Lesh and Lia Parker were honored on the Second Team.

The six All-America selections were the most in NCAA Division II and in program history, eclipsing the mark of five set in 2022.

Dating back to 2012, ESU has had at least one All-American by the NFHCA, and it marks the seventh consecutive year with multiple honorees. Additionally, Krozser, Parker and van Gils are the 17th, 18th and 19th student-athletes in school history to become multiple-time All-Americans.

Barbush, who earned All-PSAC First Team honors this season, was selected to the NFCHA First Team following a stellar 2023 campaign. Despite playing as a back, the Manheim native finished with career-highs in points (8), goals (2) and assists (4) while helping the Warriors pitch seven shutouts in 21 games.

Krozser concludes her illustrious ESU career as a two-time NFHCA First Team All-American as well as a three-time All-PSAC selection (First Team – 2023, Second Team – 2022, Third Team – 2021). The Boonton, N.J. native totaled 22 points as she matched her career-high with 10 goals, which included four game-winners, to go along with a pair of assists. Krozser will forever be etched in the program’s history books as she scored the game-winning goal with 38 seconds remaining to lift ESU to its second NCAA Division II National Championship.

In her third season with the Warriors, van Gils is now a two-time NFHCA First Team All-American after collecting a number of postseason awards this year. She was named the NFHCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year, PSAC Athlete of the Year, PSAC Tournament MVP and to the All-PSAC First Team. The Amersfoort, Netherlands native registered 25 points, the second most on the team, with 10 goals and five assists while additionally making an impact on both the offensive and defensive ends.

Kline garners NFHCA Second Team All-American accolades for the first time in her ESU career as the senior totaled a team-high 27 points with 11 goals and five assists. An All-PSAC Second Team selection, Kline was tabbed as the PSAC Athlete of the Week on September 12 and among conference rankings she finished sixth in points per game (1.35).

Lesh, who was selected to the All-PSAC Third Team in 2023, garnered NFHCA Second Team honors for the first time in her career. Despite missing three games, the Millerstown native recorded career-highs in points (11), goals (3) and assists (5). She also played a key part in eight shutouts for ESU this year.

Parker received NFHCA All-America honors for the second time in her career after landing on the First Team a season ago. A staple in the Warriors’ lineup, Parker garnered All-PSAC First Team honors for the first time after notching Second and Third Team recognition in previous seasons. The East Stroudsburg native totaled 16 points on four goals and eight assists, which included finding the back of the cage less than two minutes into the NCAA Division II National Championship.
