GENEVA, N.Y. – On Friday, junior midfielder Jady van Gils was named the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Player of the Year, marking the first time in her career she has received the prestigious national honor.

van Gils is the first Warrior in program history to be named National Player of the Year by the NFHCA and second overall as Ashley Kocis earned the recognition back in 2006.

In 21 games this season, the Netherlands native totaled 25 points, the second most on the team, with 10 goals and five assists. As a midfielder, van Gils impacted both ends of the field as she ranked ninth in the PSAC in points (1.19), 10th in goals (0.48) and 13th in assists (0.31) per game.

Friday's honors marked her sixth of the 2023 postseason as van Gils was named a NFHCA First Team All-American, the NFHCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year, the PSAC Tournament MVP and to the All-PSAC First Team.

Through three seasons with the Warriors, van Gils has played in 59 games and made 57 starts while registering 50 points on 16 goals and 18 assists. She is a two-time NFHCA First Team All-American and honored on the All-PSAC Teams twice (Second Team – 2022, First Team – 2023).
